The Challenge

The homeowner in Culcheth wanted to step out of their back doors onto a deck that was perfectly level with their interior flooring. The goal was to eliminate awkward steps and create a seamless flow, using a sophisticated colour that would harmonise with the village’s leafy, green surroundings.

Achieving a flush, sunken deck requires precision engineering and the right materials:

• Sunken Timber Subframe: To achieve the level finish, we excavated and installed a heavy-duty, pressure-treated timber frame below the threshold. This provides a rock-solid foundation while allowing the boards to sit perfectly flush with the door sill.

• Premium Composite in Sage Green: This elegant and organic colour choice offers an earthy feel that is perfect for Culcheth gardens. It blends beautifully with existing trees, shrubs, and lawns.

• Hidden Fixing System: To maintain the clean "indoor floor" look, we used a hidden clipping system, ensuring no screw heads are visible on the surface.

• Precision Drainage: With any sunken deck, drainage is vital. We engineered the subframe and ground prep to ensure water flows away from the property, keeping the area dry and protected.
