Project Story
Dunster House AddRoom Installation in Ormskirk
This Dunster House AddRoom installation in Ormskirk created an insulated home office connected directly to the customer’s house. DecKing constructed the concrete base and installed the 3m × 3m AddRoom, including two rooflights, an upgraded black Britmet composite slate roof, lighting and electrical sockets. The finished floor was aligned with the house to provide level access through the existing French doors.
The Challenge

The customer wanted a dedicated home office with plenty of natural light and views across the garden.
A second detached Dunster House Dominator had originally been considered, but the customer wanted something visually different from the separate garden office already included in the wider project. Connecting the new workspace to the house would also make it more convenient to use and give the family greater flexibility in the future.
The new room needed to feel like a connected addition to the home rather than a separate garden building. This meant carefully planning its position, preparing the concrete base and matching the finished floor height to the house.
The challenge was to bring together the base construction, attached building installation, upgraded roofing and electrical work to create a practical home office that could also become additional family living space.
The DecKing Solution
DecKing recommended a 3m × 3m Dunster House AddRoom, positioned against the rear of the property with direct access through the existing French doors.
We began by constructing a purpose-built concrete base, carefully setting the height to align the finished AddRoom floor with the internal floor of the house. This provided level access between the existing living space and the new office.
Our team then assembled and installed the AddRoom, including its insulated structure, glazing and two rooflights. Windows on two sides provide views across the garden, while the rooflights bring additional daylight into the workspace.
The roof was upgraded with black Britmet composite slate tiles, giving the building a slate-effect finish. We also completed the flashing connection where the AddRoom roof meets the existing house.
Electrical installation included lighting and sockets, providing the services needed for everyday home-office use.
By coordinating the concrete base, building installation, roofing and electrics, DecKing brought the different stages together as one complete project.

The Result
The completed Dunster House AddRoom gives the customer a bright, insulated home office with direct access from the house and views across the garden.
The carefully matched floor levels create a natural connection between the existing property and the new room. Large windows and two rooflights make the interior feel open and welcoming, while the black Britmet composite slate roof gives the exterior a distinctive finish.
Although installed as a home office, the room can adapt as the family’s needs change. Its connection to the house means it could become a family lounge, reading room or children’s chill-out space in the future.
This Ormskirk project demonstrates how a professionally installed Dunster House AddRoom can provide useful additional space without placing another detached building in the garden.
DecKing provides a 10-year workmanship warranty covering our installation.
