Savanna Composite Decking with a Wrap-Around Step in Penketh
The Challenge
The customer wanted to create a practical outdoor area within the rear garden while retaining a clear connection between the new deck and the surrounding lawn.
Because the finished deck sits above lawn level, the change in height needed to be incorporated into the design. A small conventional step positioned in one place would have restricted access and left the remaining raised edges exposed.
The deck needed to feel accessible from the wider garden while maintaining a clean, complete finish from every visible angle.
The DecKing Solution
DecKing designed and installed a Classic composite deck using Savanna boards.
The main deck provides a generous, level surface for outdoor seating, dining and everyday use. The boards run consistently across the platform, while the matching perimeter detail creates a clearly defined edge.
A wide feature step wraps around the exposed front and side of the deck. This creates an easy transition between the lawn and the deck from multiple directions rather than limiting access to a single narrow point.
The wrap-around design also turns the required change in level into one of the deck’s main visual features. Matching Savanna fascia boards conceal the structure beneath the deck and step, giving the installation a complete finish from the garden.
The Result
The finished deck creates a warm, practical outdoor area that sits naturally within the existing garden.
The Savanna composite boards complement the surrounding lawn and planting, while the wrap-around step connects the raised deck with the wider garden. Its broad design provides comfortable access and gives the deck a substantial, carefully finished appearance.
The matching boards, step and fascia create one consistent design without contrasting colours or exposed structural elements.
